For the third straight year, The Food Bank participated in one of the most special days in Western Massachusetts — Valley Gives Day. Aimed at supporting non-profit organizations in the Pioneer Valley, the day-long celebration of on-line giving brings together thousands of donors to support the organizations closest to their hearts. This year the event saw record numbers once again, raising more than $2,676,000 for 463 local non-profit agencies.
It was so amazing to see the out-pouring of generosity, as donations rolled in all throughout the day. In the end, you donated more than $69,000 to The Food Bank, which was the most amongst all participating organizations! In addition, we received a total of $3,500 in bonus awards from The Community Foundation, bringing our grand total to just under $73,000.
Although Valley Gives Day is only one day a year, your donations will have a lasting impact on the more than 200,000 people in Western Massachusetts that are struggling with food insecurity. With the money raised on Dec. 10, we can provide an additional 219,000 meals to people who are forced to choose between buying food or paying for heat, medication or rent.
We would like to thank everyone who participated in Valley Gives Day and contributed to strengthening our community. Whether you donated to The Food Bank, or any one of the other 462 worthy organizations, your generosity is what makes our region a very special place for all of us to call home.
